BIG BROTHERS, BIG SISTERS of NORTHERN MICHIGAN

This non-profit, often referred to as Bigs, is one of the treasures in our area, serving Charlevoix and our surrounding counties.

ADDRESS: 523 W. Jefferson Street, Petoskey, MI 49770

Bigs is serving nearly 300 children annually, changing outcomes and reversing the downward spiral brought on by poverty and childhood trauma by providing one-on-one
mentoring and friendships to children in difficult situations.

Our Big’s program in Charlevoix and Emmet counties is in grave need of support.

We are working to attract funding and local support in order to keep our program active and growing.

Heartfelt thanks to ALL of our generous donors, volunteers, and community partners.

  • As they say, “It takes a village” and we are so very blessed to be a part of this wonderful village!
  • Vision: All youth achieve their full potential.
  • Mission: Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
  • Mentoring is Fun. And most anyone can be a mentor and change a life. By participating in fun activities together and forming a trusting bond with a child, it can potentially rewrite a child’s future. AND change your life.
  • Facts. Comparison of children in the same demographic who did not participate in the Bigs program to children who were matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister:
    • 77% did better in school
    • 52% reported their Big kept them from dropping out of school
    • 42% earned a four-year degree
    • 46% have a household income of $75,000 or more
